So while driving home I discovered I have a new favorite thing I get to see every day. For those of you who don't know MN/WI or the area I live in, I live in the country (sort-a). Living in River Fall, WI; I live in town, but this is a country town. We are a small town of 12,560 ( I looked at the sign driving home tonight) but I wonder how many of those people are college kids and how many are year round residents. If you were to drive maybe 1 mile from my house, you would have left "city" and gotten to country. Ok, so back to my new favorite thing. Driving to and from work I drive past A LOT of farms. And when I say a lot, I mean it. We are in dairy country here. So I love looking at all the animals around me on a daily basis. Horses, chickens, sheep, cows, wild turkeys, etc. etc. etc. But I have discovered that I love seeing all the...........
Baby cows! They are so cute! I saw one running today and it just made me laugh. So It is the simple things in life that make me smile. A baby calf running.
So besides moving into our first home and me getting really sick, we have a house quest for the time being. My brother moved into our home a few weeks ago due to unforseen circumstances. We are hoping to get him back on his feet and into his own place soon. He applied for an apartment last week and here is hoping! He is being a good house guest though. He is picking up his dishes, putting clean dishes away, vacuuming, etc. Funny thing is he never did that when he and I lived together in an apartment. The first week he was here, he cooked dinner, and had it ready the minute I walked in the door (he was off of work that day), I told him I could get use to that. Man it was nice. Most of the time I cook dinner when I get home and then clean the dishes. As I am typing, I am multitasking; cooking dinner and typing my blog! Because of this circumstance with him, it has opened his eyes, and my families (Ryan and my mom) that family is who you can always count on! Friends are great, and some friends are like family, but push come to shove family will always be there to help out. A while ago, Chris had told my mom that I was his best friend, mom responded, you should be nicer to her(me). LOL. While besides the hubby (because he is my best friend) Christopher and my mom and my sister Kerry are my best friends. I have great friends but I know Ryan, my mom, Chris and Kerry will always be there!
I think I will leave on that note. Appreciate those who are there for you and love them like tomorrow is not a given! Happy Tuesday all!

I must 'moo' at any cow I see, I hope you did too!
ReplyDeleteThe sign for population is the population not the college kids (or at least very few of them...as the get counted in the home census . Didn't you when you were away at school?).
ReplyDeleteLove all the cows (beef and dairy), horses, llamas, chickens, sheep, etc. That I see just driving back and forth to work! Sometimes they make me laugh out loud, but always make me smile! :-)
I love what you said about family. There is not much else to add. When the going gets tough, we pulled together. Just try to pull any of us apart, it will never happen! My heart is so full just watching you be the woman you have become and Ryan the good man he had become. Chris has a lot of heart and he did not deserve what happened, but he is taking responsibility and doing the right thing. Attitude is everything! I love you! Mom
Mom, the pop count, it does include college kids. Because the city/county always wants more money and they are living in that county/city. We did not count me on the Mankato census because we choose to go against the grain and count me in Hudson. So that would be interesting to really know how many are college kids and how many are college kids! And as for family, this has taught me a lot!
ReplyDeleteOk, per our conversation mom, here is the link that talks about college kids being on the census for the town they go to school in. http://2010.census.gov/campus/2010_census.html
ReplyDeleteOkay show off, you win! LAUGHING OUT LOUD ...... hate it when I'm wrong.
